Jessica Hedeman, DO – Hauenstein Center Mercy Health
BIO: Jessica Hedeman, DO is a practicing Neurologist in Grand Rapids, MI. Dr. Hedeman graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine East Lansing in 2009 and has been in practice for 9 years. She completed a residency at Botsford Hospital. Dr. Hedeman also specializes in Psychiatry. She currently practices at Mercy Health Hauenstein Neurosciences and is affiliated with Mercy Health Saint Mary’s.

BIO: Dr. Emily Kate Ruether is a Neurology Specialist in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She graduated with Honors from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 2011. Having more than 7 years of diverse experiences, especially in Neurology, Dr. Emily Kate Ruether affiliates with many hospitals including Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus, Spectrum Health United Memorial – United Campus, Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial, Spectrum Health Kelsey Hospital.
Parkinson’s Research Update
Caryl Sortwell, PhD – Michigan State University
Dr. Caryl Sortwell has been conducting Parkinson’s Disease (PD) research for over twenty (20) years and is part of the Grand Rapids-based MSU PD research team. She will be presenting an overview of ongoing clinical trials to slow or stop PD progression as well as highlighting a few new research findings that will lead to greater understanding of the disease.
