Mindful Yoga Adapted to the Unique Needs of People with Parkinson’s Disease.

This Adaptive Yoga program has been designed for anyone with PD. While Yoga cannot reverse PD, it can ease your symptoms. Yoga helps decrease stress and bring calm to a busy mind. Our teachers have training and experience working with adaptive techniques of Yoga. The therapeutic wisdom of Yoga is available to all participants including caregivers.

  • No Yoga experience necessary;
  • Caregivers are welcome to participate;
  • Yoga props are provided for all participants;
  • Wear comfortable, snug-fitting clothing;
  • Avoid eating a large meal before class.

People with PD have been shown to respond favorably to the practice of Yoga.  While Yoga cannot reverse PD, it can ease symptoms by decreasing rigidity, improving balance, increasing range of motion as well as core strength.  Yoga also will decrease stress and bring calm to a busy mind, allowing for deeper relaxation.  This class is suitable for people with PD as well as their caregivers.  Katherine Florentine, ERYT500, has been practicing & teaching yoga for over 20 years.  She has studied the therapeutic applications of Yoga with internationally recognized teachers.  She has offered classes and workshops nationally, including Australia.
